The Word of God
We believe the sixty-six canonical books of the Old and New Testaments are the divinely inspired, infallible Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is sufficient and trustworthy for life, faith, conduct, and practice, and is the supreme and final authority in all matters to which it speaks. We further believe that the true meaning of Scripture lies in the text and is recoverable through careful application of a literal (grammatical, historical, contextual) method of interpretation, based on the genre of the text, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and in the community of believers in Christ (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Pet. 1:21).
The Trinity
We believe in the One Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; One God in three persons (Matt. 28:19; 1 Cor. 8:6; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Pet.1:2).
See "God the Father," "God the Son," and "God the Holy Spirit."
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, who is an infinite, personal Being, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity. We believe God's knowledge is exhaustive; that He fully knows the past, present, and future independent of human decisions and actions. The Father in His Sovereignty does everything in accordance with His perfect will without eliminating our personal responsibility (Deut. 32:6; Eph. 4:6; 1 Jn 5:1).
God the Son
We believe in God the Son, God’s incarnate Son, Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe God the Son is of the same substance, nature, attributes, and perfections as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We also believe in His sinless life, His substitutionary atonement, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, and His personal, visible, premillennial return from heaven (Matt. 1:20-23; Lk 1:35; Jn. 1:14; Rom. 9:5; Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2:13).
God the Holy Spirit
We believe in God the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, makes believers children of God through new birth, assures believers of their salvation, and, through His indwelling presence, enables believers to live a godly life (Jn. 10:28,29; 16:8; Rom. 8:38,39; 1 Cor. 3:16; 12:13; Eph. 1:13,14). We believe the Holy Spirit distributes spiritual gifts to believers as He wills for the edification of the saints and the glorification of the Triune God.
Salvation
We believe in salvation by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. This salvation is received by faith, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual. We further believe salvation results in righteous living, good works, and proper social concern. (Acts 13:38, 39; Rom. 6:23; Heb. 9:22, 26-28; Eph. 2:8-10). We believe the good news of Jesus Christ is for all people (Lk. 2:10).
The Church
We believe the Church is the community of believers, both locally and globally, with Christ as its Head. We believe that the true Church is composed of all believers who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and strive daily to follow Him. We also believe that believers should not neglect fellowship with other believers (Hebrews 10:25). Furthermore, we believe the Ordinances for the local church are believer’s Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper. We also believe in the interdependence of local churches and the mutual submission of believers to each other in love (Eph. 4:11-16; Col. 1:18; Acts 2:42-47; Rom. 6:4; 1 Cor. 11:23-26).
Christian Conduct
We believe that the supreme task of believers is to glorify God in words and deeds, loving God and others. We further believe that believers should be faithful stewards of their possessions and seek to attain to maturity in Christ (Matt. 5:13-16; 1 Pet. 2:11-12; Matt. 25:21; Eph. 4:15; Col. 1:10, 28). We believe the Bible makes it clear that drunkenness and abuse against a person’s own body are not pleasing to God (Prov. 23:19-21, Eph. 5:18; Rom. 12:1, 1 Cor. 6:19-20). Based on the teachings of Scripture, we believe that believers should not participate in the abuse of any substance (e.g., alcohol and drugs) or use any banned or illegal drugs/supplements, or substances.
Mankind
We believe God originally created persons, male and female, in the image and likeness of the Triune God, free from sin. However, due to the sin of Adam and Eve, all people became sinners by nature and remain so by individual choice, making them spiritually dead. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, and that all who trust Him as their Lord and Savior are justified on the ground of His shed blood on the Cross (Acts 13:38, 39; Rom. 6:23; Heb. 9:22, 26-28). In following Christ’s example, we believe that every person should be treated with love, dignity, and respect, no matter their age, ethnicity, sex, economic or social status. We also believe that racism has no place in the church or society, and God has clearly commanded us to reject hatred. As followers of Jesus, we are called to love and care for all people – the poor, sick, marginalized, persons with disability, etc. Furthermore, we believe that human life is precious and should be protected and cared for from conception until death. We believe that God knows each individual person and has a plan for their life, even before they were born (Jer. 1:5, Gal. 1:15; Eph. 1:3-4; Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:10, 23).
Christian Marriage and Sexuality
We believe God established marriage to be a lifelong covenant relationship between one man and one woman. Marriage so defined is the only permissible context for sexual expression and is the foundation for the human family. We believe that participating in sexual immorality, same-gender sexuality, transgenderism, and other sexual sins is outside of God’s will for a Christian (1 Cor. 6:9-11, 18-20). We believe God designed and created two distinct sexes, male and female (Gen. 1:27; Matt. 19:4; Mk. 10:6), demonstrating that each person’s gender is determined by biological sex instead of one’s self-perception.
The Last Things
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to eternal damnation (Matt. 25:34-46; John 5:28,29; 1 Cor. 15:20-28; Rev. 20:11-15).
